Quantum Strangeness and Chaos

If anyone remembered the movie Cube 2 – Hypercube, few would find themselves inside a 4-dimensional cube where quantum effects are visibly effective. In the film, Jerry character, who later turned out to be the virtual design of this cube and reached out to meet everyone affectionately, sensed the awkwardness of the environment and tried to explain the event to other characters and used the concept of “quantum chaos”. In fact, what they described was an even stranger interpretation of the classical strange consequences of quantum mechanics: objects being in more than one place at the same time, parallel universes… “Chaos”, one of the most important fields of study in modern physics, did not appear in the event, but if Jerry wanted to refer to the chaoticity of the environment need to…

Quantum mechanics actually paints us a very strange picture of the world. We can say that the fact that particles acquire various properties within possibilities, and that we cannot say anything about these properties without being observed, destroyed the determinism (determinism) that was the dominant view in the 18th and 19th centuries since Newton. When the foundation stones of the theory began to be laid in the 1920s, many people in physics circles, including Einstein, opposed it, arguing that these strange results were related to the variables and situations we did not know in the background. Einstein was one of the foremost ranks of these opposites, and he pointed out his position by saying “God does not roll dice” by referring to the probability states in quantum mechanics.

Such “strange” results of quantum mechanics pointed out that, according to some, we reached the limit of our understanding of the universe and reality, and for others a subjective sphere of existence with its philosophical adaptation. Especially in recent years, with the interest of popular culture in this subject, a voice has started to emerge from every mind: From the quantum self to quantum thinking…

Well, under this strange, as Einstein claimed, we still do not know (maybe nothing at all). different variables that we may not know) play a role? Are these situations that we observe and often do not agree with the objective understanding of science, in fact, just the face of reality to us? Is there a different mechanism underlying this?

Tim Palmer, who has taken up such questions and researches chaos models in climate science, claims that all these oddities can be explained through chaos theory. He says that this field, which studies systems in which small changes create unexpectedly large effects, may also explain the particle world, whose behavior we currently describe with quantum mechanics. Although his views have been criticized by some, he has already started to be supported by many theoretical physicists… Palmer adds that greater progress will be made with the increase of work on the subject.
