The RNA world hypothesis predominates RNA (ribonucleic acid) – based life and DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) – based life. RNA, which can store information such as DNA and catalyze reactions such as proteins (enzymes), may have enabled the creation of cellular or pre-cellular life.
Currently, some theories about the origin of life present RNA-based catalysis and information storage as the first stage in Cell Evolution. It is claimed that the RNA-based world evolved into today’s DNA and protein World.DNA, thanks to its greater chemical balance, became a specialized catalytic molecule because of its ability to catalyze in a large variety of amino acids, while it took on the task of storing information. In short, the RNA world hypothesis argues that RNA in today’s cells, in particular rRNA ( which catalyzes protein production in the ribosome), is a trace of the evolution of the RNA world.
